I am leaving you with a gift-peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don't be troubled or afraid. ~John 14:27
With all of the crazy stuff that is going on in this world, people are constantly trying to find something that will give them peace, something that will comfort them during the hard times they're facing. They often turn to material things to find this peace and usually, in the end, those things lead to destruction.
What people don't realize is that nothing will give them a peace of mind. No matter what they turn to, they still will not be able to find true comfort and peace.
The things of this world will not give you peace. Period. The only one who will give you a peace of mind is our Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ. My friends, HE IS peace.
I urge you, if you are feeling troubled, afraid, lonely, or whatever it is that you are feeling uneasy about, just talk to our Daddy God. He is ALWAYS there for you. Tell Him what it is that is troubling you. He will listen. Please don't turn to the "stuff" in this world to find peace. Turn to our loving, faithful God that will give you "a peace of mind and heart." Seek refuge in Him.
College life as a freshman has been so stressful. Every time I came home, I just wanted to rest, relax, and maybe watch something. Every time I went to sleep, I'd wake up at 2 and 5 when I didn't intend to. This went on for weeks and has still been happening. After reading this, I'm realizing that I haven't used any of that time to truly rest with the Father. Worrying about tomorrow's homework, next week's test, whether or not I'm failing a class. It only added to my new unrestful lifestyle. I thought it was because I wasn't eating right, or something else. But that wasn't what was going on at all!
ReplyDeleteI'm certain now that only through meditation and talking with God, will I find peace and a renewed mind. He's asking for more than the ritual mealtime, waking or sleeping prayers! He's wanting to bring me peace more often than on Sunday! I know that only by Him, by the Gift of God, am I even able to live each week, do any homework, or make new friends after class. But still, He's more and more each day that I spend with Him.
